Welcome to Raincity Theatre's production of Sunday in the Park with George

We are thrilled to present Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece, Sunday in the Park with George.

Inspired by Georges Seurat's iconic painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, this breathtaking musical explores the intersection of art, love, ambition, and the legacy we leave behind. Featuring one of Stephen Sondheim's most celebrated scores, Sunday in the Park with George is a moving and visually stunning theatrical experience unlike any other.

Performances take place at 353 Railway Street, Vancouver. This unique venue allows audiences to experience the production up close, surrounded by the art and the atmosphere of the story itself. Learn more below.

Before You Arrive

Check-in begins at 7:00 PM, with doors opening for reserved seating at 7:30 PM.

We encourage you to arrive early, enjoy a beverage, explore the space, and settle in before the performance begins. There will be a bar with light refreshments. You can 'Add On' a Mini Bottle of Prosecco while purchasing your ticket.

The performance begins promptly at 8:00 PM. Due to the immersive nature of the production, late arrivals cannot be accommodated, and latecomers will not be admitted once the performance has begun.

Tickets are on sale now. Our previous productions have all sold out, and seating is limited. We recommend reserving your seats as soon as possible.

Dress Code

We'd love for you to be part of the canvas! Guests are encouraged to wear white to help transform the space into Georges Seurat's painting. Whether it's a white shirt, dress, jacket, or your entire outfit, join us in creating a beautiful sea of colour (or rather, the absence of it!). Participation is completely optional, but we think it will make for a magical evening.

Ticketing & Seating

Raincity Theatre is known for creating intimate, immersive theatrical experiences, and Sunday in the Park with George is no exception. Every seat is close to the action, but each seating section offers a different way to experience the production. We encourage you to review our seating map before purchasing your tickets. Please note: All seating requires at least two steps up to enter the playing space. See the wheelchair access or other mobility accommodations below for more info.

Swivel Seating (Recommended)

Our signature and most immersive experience. Located in the heart of the action, these swivel chairs allow you to turn freely as the performance unfolds all around you. Rather than having the show presented from a single direction, you'll choose where to look, making every performance a unique experience. This is our recommended way to experience the production.

Traditional Seating

Prefer a more conventional theatre experience? Our traditional tiered seating offers excellent sightlines of the entire production while placing you just outside the central playing area. You'll still feel close to the performance while enjoying a broader perspective of the staging.

Chair Seating

Also a bit more of a conventional theatre experience. This area is still very much in the action, located beside the entrance but farther from the orchestra.

Band Side Seating

Our most affordable seating option is located adjacent to the orchestra. You'll enjoy a fantastic view of the production while experiencing the music from just a few feet away. Because of the proximity to the musicians, this section may be louder than other seating areas and is priced accordingly.

Dynamic Pricing

We use dynamic pricing for this production. As performances fill and demand increases, ticket prices may rise. We recommend purchasing early to secure the best seats at the best available price.

Accessibility

VIVA Alliance is wheelchair accessible.

If you require wheelchair access or other mobility accommodations, please contact us after booking your tickets so we can make the necessary arrangements. As the venue requires advance planning for accessible entry, guests requiring wheelchair access must arrive before 7:30 PM to ensure we can assist you before the performance begins.

If you have any accessibility questions before purchasing your tickets, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We are happy to help make your visit as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
